Manchester United collection 2011-12

Manchester United Nike apparel collection 11-12

In Nike’s promotional activities they produce athlete photos in order to make the link between the player and the gear for sale. The players chosen to feature in these photos are almost exclusively player wearing Nike footwear. In the case of Manchester United the players picked for the job: Ferdinand. Hernandez. Rooney. Evra.

The collection is broken down into three categories or silos:

The leisure wear / match day gear as symbolized by Rio Ferdinand.

The training wear worn by Hernandez Chicharito.

The playing kit presented by Wayne Rooney.

The various backgrounds borrow heavily from the most sacred and most typical places in the world of football.

The stadium. The field whether being the training field or the pitch at the stadium. And here below the locker room or the dressing room.

The photos must have been shot before May 2011 since they have decided to equip the jerseys with standard EPL badges rather than the gold Champs badges 10/11 which the club proudly wears this season. The short number barely visible is clearly the EPL standard style and size. So the photos have been made to resemble matchday action.

And another distinctive look at the new Manchester United favorite Javier Hernandez. This time featured out on the training pitch with the statist frame in the background to emphazise the context.

Review: Tottenham home jersey 11-12

Review: Puma Tottenham Home Jersey 11/12

By Zach Jepson

The new Tottenham home jersey by Puma looks very plain upon first sight.  The shirt is solid lilywhite throughout with only a few navy details.  Three embroidered Puma cats-one on each sleeve, and one over the left chest and the embroidered team crest over the heart.  There is also the new “Aurasma” sponsor dead center in middle of the kit.  The jersey also has a white collar and the back and sides are made of a mesh that allows air to pass through easily.  That’s all the basic aspects included on the shirt, now time for my opinion…

Tottenham home jersey 11-12

The new Tottenham kit is great.  It’s plain but it’s truly a thing of beauty.  Sometimes less is more, you know?  As a Spurs fan, it is a pleasure seeing Bale, Van deer Vaart, Dawson and the rest of the lilywhite’s wearing this on the pitch each week.  The only problem is that this shirt won’t be making an appearance in the Champions League this year, but alas, you’ve got to have goals and I hope our Spurs will be back next year!

The shirt features a slight stretch and Puma has finally nailed their sizing down to how it should be.  For years Puma was unpredictable with their sizing…the 07/08 kit was wide and short, 08/09 fit true to size, 09/10 fit really short and wide, 10/11 was long and wide.  The sizing is now finally perfect.  I would say it’s similar to Adidas sizing rather than Nike but it’s true to chest size a 42/44 is a large, etc.  Personally, sizing is very important to me, if a shirt fits really short or wide, I likely won’t wear it, so why buy it?  It’s a shame that Puma finally made a great shirt…when it’s their last year being the Tottenham manufacturer.

As far as things that detract from the jersey…there’s really nothing.  The only nitpicking would be with the new “Aurasma” sponsor but that’s just because I think the logo is not as visually appealing as the Autonomy logo from last season.  Also, Autonomy dropped the ball because they couldn’t decide on what they wanted to the jersey which is why the release date was pushed back until late September.  It always seems Spurs have trouble with the sponsor and their jerseys are always released late because of that.

So with the amount of items released by a team by their kit manufacturer, how would I spend my limited dollars?  I think that the kits are the most important thing but there are several points that either make or break a purchase from me.  The sizing is important was I said earlier, but the team crest NEEDS to be embroidered.    Lately, it seems that a Nike and Adidas are deciding to not embroider all the team crests anymore and personally, that’s just being cheap.  They justify it by saying it makes the jersey lighter but I think it’s a lot cheaper to screen a logo rather than having it stitched on.  For example the new Arsenal and Real Madrid shirts feature screened logos similar to the sponsors…it looks cheap and I think it makes it look like a knock off shirt from eBay.  Luckily Puma hasn’t done that with any of their kits yet.  I think that when companies are making kits, t-shirts, pants, training gear, jackets, fleeces and other items…for me kits come first, and training gear second.  I rarely purchase other items because there are just too many.  It’s nice having variety but when each item is $50-75; you have to pick and choose.

Overall, I’d say the new Tottenham kit is nearly flawless.  If you’re a fan, it’s a definite buy, especially with not knowing how Under Armour will handle their range next year.  You also can’t go wrong getting it customized with your favorite player from MMSports because they are one of only a handful of shops to offer authentic Lextra player names and numbers as well as authentic on field size badges.  Any questions ask, but I think it’s a must buy.

Review: Real Madrid Champions League Away Jersey

By the MM Sports Ambassador Sean Moran

The Real Madrid Champions League Away Jersey has a classic design with a fresh new look to it.  The climacool technology that this jersey has is not like others the feel of the fabric is thick yet it breaths very well.  Like many Adidas jerseys this jerseys breaths in the right areas for not only optimal cooling but at the same time it will keep the moisture off of you so you don’t have to worry about getting cold while training or just wearing it for leisure.  The climacool technology also focuses on certain areas of your body to have maximum ventilation for your body to be able to perform at it up most level.  The jersey the embossed team crest on the upper left chest, and the Adidas logo stitched on the right front chest. The front screen-prints features the team sponsor (bwin) who has consistently maintained sponsorship for Real Madrid over the last several years.

Also stitched on the right sleeve is the champion’s league soccer ball and on the left is the champion’s league trophy these league badges are very important to a jersey they tell you what league the jersey is worn in, it also can tell other people about what kind of fan you.

Real Madrid CL away jersey Star Ball Real Madrid CL away jersey badge of honours

On the back of the jersey is the name and number of player, as well as team crest at the bottom of the numbers.  The reason for me as a fan to get the players name on the jersey is to support you favorite players not only your team.  The jersey does not look complete without the players name and number on the back of the jersey. Price is not an issue for me because I won’t buy a jersey without a name of the player I like but I understand sometimes price can factor in for some.  Even if you buy the jersey to train instead of the training top you want the player on the back to show your support.  The reason I like to wear team jerseys when I train other than the training gear is because the jersey has more perks like the ventilation of the armpit areas, back, and abdomen.  Also the jerseys are made to be the best possible attire to train an get the most out of you without hindering your abilities due to the elements or even stiffness.

Real Madrid CL away jersey official name and number kit

On the shoulder it has the classic Adidas look with tight arm bands at the end of the sleeves to give it a more fitted look, as well as venting under the arms.

Real Madrid Champions League away jersey sleeve

The bottom right front displays the Adidas authentic mark, while the left bottom displays the screen-print ClimaCool logo.

Real Madrid authenticity logo Clima Cool logo

The sizing of this jersey is true to size, while offering a form fitting style.  The fabric is thicker than most jerseys but very durable and comfortable.  The stitching on this jersey is all very tight and well done, the manufacturing of this jersey shows the effort that Adidas puts in their jerseys to fit it towards what athletes want and what can help them battle the elements and their own body. Also this jersey is very stylish with a great new red color that I have not seen in a Real Madrid jersey before.

Review: Manchester United home jersey 2011/12

By MM Sports Joker Ambassador Aaron Holtsclaw, LA

When the famous red shirt of Manchester United arrived in my mailbox, I was excited. Though I own versions from the past, pulling on the kit of the greatest team on God’s Green Earth never loses its appeal. The jersey arrived unadorned with number which I am told is how adults should wear it. A famous podcaster educated me to that tidbit. With the rise of the other half of Manchester to prominence, it has never been more important to wear the shirt once worn by Best, Law, Charlton, Cantona, Beckham, Keane,  Scholes and countless other legends. Though the shirt sponsor changes, the crest that those greats kissed is the same. I like the addition to this shirt of the black and white stripes to the collar and armholes.  They add a little touch of color that doesn’t diminish from the overall look but makes it stand out from previous versions of the shirt. The crest remains above the heart of the wearer as it should be. Those who pull on this jersey should have the club in their heart. Since Nike began manufacturing United’s jerseys this is my favorite. The simplicity of the design harkens back to the pre sponsor days when the kit was all about the team. The swoosh is over your right breast smaller than the club crest as it should be. Nike is a great company but not more important than the club. Just below the back of the collar, a single red devil sits saying, “I will watch your back in case some City supporter tries to sneak up on you and cause trouble.” He really doesn’t say that but I am glad he is there to watch my back. The kit is put together expertly. There is no stray strings showing and all the stitching is nice and tight. Overall, the jersey is of excellent quality and something any proud Red should wear.

Review: FC Barcelona away jersey 11-12

Review: FC Barcelona away jersey 11-12

By MM Sports’ FC Barcelona ambassador Ph.D Gerard A. Banez, Ohio, USA

Introduction:

So, after another year of collecting more domestic and international titles, what does FC Barcelona do to top its most recent successes? On the pitch, the club adds more rising stars, like Sanchez & Fabregas, to ensure that it continues to win titles in the future. Off the field, the 2011-2012 campaign kicks off with another line of stylish & contemporary Barca merchandise. My focus here will be the new 2011-2012 Black Away jersey.

The Look

My first reaction to this jersey was that it looks a lot better in person than it does on the website. I like the color black as much as anyone, but, to me, the black jersey looked boring on the website when compared to the mint, orange, and yellow of past Barca away jerseys. Seeing the jersey, though, changed my opinion. The 2011-12 Black Away jersey is very stylish & contemporary in appearance. The black is sharp. The jersey features a unique and attractive neckline (see photo). The dark grey striping on the sleeves (photo) adds to its sporty appearance. As far as the Qatar Foundation logo, I know that many supporters have strong feelings about Barca taking on any logo. Though I won’t try to change your opinions on this, what I can say is that the Qatar logo isn’t that bad. It is subtle and distinctive in appearance and does not jump out or detract from the overall look. The “good” logo, the Unicef logo, is now on the bottom half of the back of the jersey, beneath the player number. Mes que un club (more than a club) is on the inside of the back collar, and tots units fem forca (all together we are strong) is in its familiar place on the inside of the jersey behind the FCB badge.

The Cut

This jersey runs about true to size. It fits much like my 2010-2011 Barca home jersey. It is a Nike jersey, and, in my experience, the Nike jerseys are more relaxed and not as fitting as the Adidas jerseys. I personally like their more relaxed fit.

The Feel

The jersey is made in Nike Dri Fit fabric. I have always liked the texture and substance of Dri Fit and prefer that it is not as clingy as Clima Cool.

Bottom Line

In a very short time, I anticipate that the 2011-2012 Black Away FC Barcelona jersey will emerge as one of my favorite soccer shirts. It is sharp, and it is sporty. In black, the shirt is more dressy and not as jersey-like, giving it added versatility. I highly recommend this jersey to any Barca fan and to anyone who likes good-looking, well-made soccer merchandise.  It represents yet another FCB victory.

Review: FC Barcelona women's away jersey 11-12

Review: FC Barcelona women’s away jersey 11-12

By MM Sports women’s apparel ambassador Katie Scharra

This season’s Barcelona away jersey is my first women’s apparel jersey, as I usually either wear a youth size or men’s.   I was very impressed with the fit of this jersey, and it has many features that makes it fit with a stylish and comfortable look.  The darts that run up the sides make it flattering to the female figure, and it looks incredibly fashionable.  Sizing does run a bit small since it is a Nike jersey, and I found that it was a bit too snug around my shoulders making it not very useful to work out in.  I would, however, defiantly wear it to my weekly kick-about as the Nike Dri- Fit technology is very impressive and keeps me cool while wearing it.  The style of the jersey is an all black style, which at first I thought I would find to be a bit boring, but with the personalization added to the back the jersey became a whole new look.

As well as added extra value, the personalization was very well applied and withstood the washing machine. I can very easily wear it any day of the week with a pair of jeans or shorts, but as for the lazy weekend at home I would stick to the comfort of a men’s jersey.  The only negative feedback I got from other fans on the new club look was that the design of the sponsor, the Qartar Foundation, on the front seems less exciting than the old Unicef front.  This could be because it is a bit smaller on the front for the women’s style to make it more flattering.  All in the detail I suppose.  As for my opinion on the new look and my newly found love for women’s jerseys?  I am completely sold on the female jersey as the fit is excellent and it is stylish enough to wear everyday while the Dri-Fit makes it great to play in, and although it is a simple black a personalization on the back makes it as exciting as it is sleek.

Review: Liverpool away jersey 11/12

By MM Sports Liverpool ambassador Debra Capp and family

Recently, I requested MM Sport send us a Liverpool FC 2011/12 away jersey in a child’s size for my son, Lachie. Immediately he tore open the package and held up the shirt I knew I’d made a mistake.  I should have ordered the woman’s size. For me.

This is a beautifully stylish garment, in solid grey and silver with red trim. The cut of the jersey features a shallow V neck with red piping; inserted shoulder panels and shaped side panels. This means a very flattering fit: a shirt that will look good on anyone. Understated vertical drop stitch stripes provide a background for the metallic silver lettering of the Club’s sponsor and the mock appliqué Liverpool FC crest in silver Lurex.  If, like me, you appreciate different textures on a garment, you will enjoy the suede feel of the flocked Premier league badges and player’s name/number as well as the shiny smoothness of the embossed Adidas logo. For those who look for detail, see if you can find the holograms that appear in two places on the shirt.

The fabric used is Climacool; developed by Adidas to wick moisture from the underside of the material to the exterior enabling the body to stay cooler and drier during strenuous exercise.

My son’s verdict: really comfortable.

Where we live in the southern part of Australia, soccer and Aussie rules are the prevailing football codes. Our beautiful country town of Castlemaine has a vibrant soccer club including a strong female component. Lachie’s team boasts a number of Liverpool FC supporters, including the coach, so he was eyed with envy when he arrived at training in one of the latest jerseys.

As usual, delivery was most prompt. Thank you MM Sport.

I hope you enjoy the photos I’ve include of my sons Lachie and Oscar in their Liverpool FC gear from MM Sport.

REVIEW: MANCHESTER UNITED AWAY JERSEY 2011-12

By MM Sports Man Utd ambassador Bülent Bahadır

It is a great honour for me to write a review of the Glourious Manchester United team kits. Every shirt with a Manchester United crest on it would definitely look fabulous but I try to be as objective as possible in this review.

Man United away jersey 11-12 Champs badges

This season’s Manchester United jersey is again supplied by Nike since 02/03 season. As its becoming a tradition Manchester United’s away jerseys are white and blue seperately for recent years. This season’s away jersey is blue and black colour, inspired by the blue kits worn in their several famous victories, including the 1948 FA Cup final and the 1968 European Cup final as in 08/09 third jersey was inspired from too. Main difference of this jersey from 08/09 third jersey is midnight navy blue and black striped hoops. These hoops are inspired by a previous United away jersey with the colour of red and white hoops and was worn for seven seasons between 1932 and 1939. With the combination of the old red-white away jersey worn at 30s and the victorious blue jersey, here we have the nice and modern looking 11/12 away jersey of Manchester United.

Manchester United team photo 1934-35 season

Manchester United 1934/35

There are eleven stripes on each hoop representing each member of the Manchester United team. There is a big difference from previous season’s jerseys, the club crest is no longer placed in a shield as it was in a shield since the season 07/08. With every merchandise of the club including the jerseys, training shirts, polos and etc, Nike used shielded club crest. Without a shield around it, club crest gets bigger compared to previous seasons so that it gives a nice and detailed look especially on TV.

Manchester United badges 2010-11 and 2011-12

Bigger club crest this season

Both Nike swoosh at the left side and the Manchester United crest at the right side of the chest are embroidered and AON sponsor printed on white colour. Jersey has a nice simple black collar and inside the collar “Manchester United“ printed. The back of the jersey features the famous devil symbol of the club in white colour which gives a nice detail to the jersey and reminds the club although team name was not written as most of the clubs do at the back top of their jerseys.

Manchester United Jersey is made from Dri-Fit material, that’s recycled from plastic bottles(up to 13 discarded plastic water bottles used for each jersey) which keeps the body ventilated. Jersey’s template is same with the New France jerseys as they were the first 11/12 Nike jerseys announced.

Felt player name and numbering

Manchester United has EPL name and number printing as all of the Premier League team should have. After one year break, this season club will be carrying gold EPL champions badges on both of the arms. (Special thanks to MMSport, they are one of the few online jersey stores that apply Player Size Senscilla (Sporting ID) EPL Name&Numbering and Patches).

All these small details come together and make this jersey look attractive and modern. This stunning jersey can be worn as a casual shirt, during the game or on the field. Previous two CL Final defeats with white away jersey, I wish this beautiful blue and black coloured away jersey brings the Champions League cup to Sir Alex and his lads. Glory Glory Man United.

 Review: Inter home jersey 11/12

By Inter ambassador Joe Palatano

F. C. Internazionale Milano is an organization with a cult following, folklore-like history and tradition. Inter fans are not only some of the most passionate in the world… They are also some of the best-dressed tifosi around.

The 2011/2012 Nike Inter jersey is a classic, well-built product fit for any fan of “Pazza Inter”, a club and squad which shares these qualities. The shirt is perfect to wear around – whether supporting at home, or showing off the nerazzurri colors with friends (or rivals).

Narrow-striped with a vibrant blue and black, this Inter Milan kit is everything the customer would expect – a perfect fan piece, and stylish option in your closet.

Inter home jersey 11-12 Coppa Italia badge WCC badge

My Inter shirt came with kit name and number Pazzini 7 perfectly applied – secure, and of authentic, highest quality. With added value accents such as black and blue stitching at the seams, bold Inter crest, in-collar St. George’s Cross flag, and ‘inter’ stylized screening at the back of the neck – this is surely a collector’s item to show off.

Inter home jersey 11-12 Pazzini 7

The first aspect that really stands out about the Nike Internazionale 11/12 jersey is that it is collared.  Collars on football shirts can be a love-hate relationship. They can really make or break the look of the jersey, as well as the fun-to-wear factor.

If you’ve had any reservations regarding collared football kits in the past, forget them – this one is both enjoyable to wear and quite stylish.

Inter home jersey 11-12 collar look inside

Inter have opted for collarless over the past few seasons, but this one just seems to fit right with the club and its English origins in general.  The collar sits well on the neck and collarbone and always retains its shape – the firm, no slouch short collar blends seamlessly into the shirt itself. Forget intrusive collars, there’s no fuss or hassle with this classic one-button football shirt collar.

The material is a lightweight slightly dimpled or textured Nike Dry-Fit fabric that falls lightly on the shoulders and chest, thus making it really quite comfortable to wear.

Unlike football shirts from other kit manufacturers, the fit of this Inter jersey is not restricting at all. It is loose and airy in all the right places, giving the fan a comfortably full range of movement – yet it is form fitting with a flattering cut, meaning this shirt will not just hang there off of your back.

My shirt was delivered with Coppa Italia and Club World Cup patches attached.  These add-ons arrived well applied in the appointed places, with a manufacturer-direct level of craft and attention to detail. The shirt adorned with patches really adds value by displaying the accomplishments of the squad – you can’t help but feel like a fully decorated military general in this thing.

Inter home jersey 11-12 chest

Without a doubt, this shirt is one gorgeous Inter Milan replica jersey. From the overall fit, to the style, the classic elements to the authentic cup and championship patches from MM Sport – my F.C. Inter Milan jersey is a standout item.
