La Liga taking up the mantle of the Premier League introduced a uniform name and number style across the league for the season 2017/18. The criteria was same positioning, same size, same font. But colors and club logo were left to the clubs to decide upon.

This would only complicate matters for the retailers since prior to this moment the individual printing by each club was used for all their matches.

Real Madrid decided that they would not include the club logo in the numbers. Nor would they sell the La Liga printing for retail.

adidas would then start to produce jerseys with La Liga patch pre-printed and jerseys blank without the patch for the retailer to add the UCL badges themselves. The third jersey which had previously come with the UCL badges would appear blank and could thus be customed as either a Cup jersey or a La Liga jersey.
