FIFA is compiling a ranking over the national teams in the world of football.

By the end of the year 2012 the top 10 ranking looked like this:
Spain
Germany
Argentina
Italy
Colombia
England
Portugal
Holland
Russia
Croatia
Absent from the top 10 is Brazil. Primarily because Brazil will be the host of the WC 2014 so they do not have the chance to secure points during qualification rounds. Also there was no Copa America in 2012 while there was a European Championship. Uruguay the reigning South American champions Uruguay might have been left out of the top 10 for the same reason.
