The European Championship Winners 1960-2024
The European Championship is not quite as old as the World Cup, but dating back to 1960, the tournament has already comfortably passed the 60-year mark. As with the World Cup, the beginnings were rather humble and lacked the massive media hype of the modern era. However, even from the outset, the tournament was highly popular, drawing in large crowds while being followed eagerly by many more from a distance.
